Grey lamellar cast iron (GJL)

Reference standards:
EN 1561, ASTM A 48, ASTM A 278, ASTM A 319, ISO 185

In grey iron, graphite is present in lamellar form, giving it excellent thermal conductivity, high vibration damping, and excellent castability and machinability. However, these same lamellae limit tensile strength and ductility compared to spheroidal iron.
Fonderie Palmieri produces grades from EN-GJL-200 to EN-GJL-350, used in compressors, electric motor stators, hydraulics, and components requiring dimensional stability and good surface hardenability.
