Spheroidal graphite iron

Spheroidal graphite iron is obtained by adding magnesium to the molten bath: the graphite solidifies in the form of spheroids, eliminating the stress concentration points typical of grey iron and providing ductility and toughness comparable to many steels.
Fonderie Palmieri produces the entire EN 1563 range, from GJS-350-22-LT (ferritic matrix, excellent toughness down to -40°C) to GJS-700-2 (pearlitic matrix, high strength and good wear resistance), covering valves, compressors, gearboxes, automotive and general mechanical engineering.
